"Bad People" of the Internet

"Bad People" of the Internet

In this era dominated by the information superhighway, merchants, artists, policy shapers and corporate giants have come to embrace the power of the Internet to advance their respective agendas. Unfortunately, even the "bad people" - hackers, scammers and identity thieves - have decided to join the bandwagon as well. For this reason, we have to be constantly careful and alert with our online activities and dealings.

These "bad people" do not operate in a black-or-white scheme, so they can be a combination of hackers and scammers that sometimes start out their operations in a legitimate fashion. For instance, the "419 scammers" would typically build a website with seemingly noble causes. Once they get the necessary traffic and online visitors are starting to trust them, "419 scammers" try to take advantage of their network using such methods of soliciting pity and humanitarian aid for people who are being painted as "victims" of genocide or other political abuses.

The hackers are potentially the most dangerous bunch as they can get into your computer system by merely using malicious software. They do not have to personally know you and, once they have control of your computer system, the sky is the limit for them on how to take advantage of you. The identity thieves are normally a combination of hackers and scammers - although, sometimes they also resort to non-hacking ways to obtain personal information. The major identifying mark of identity thieves is that they usurp your bank accounts and credit cards. Indeed, there is an ever-increasing threat for all individuals who make use of the Internet. We can only do so much to protect ourselves because, like what the hackers do, they can get to us using technologically-advanced methods. Needless to say, we are better off if we avail of the services offered by security system providers with proven mettle.
